Basic cover is included in your daily hire rate, however many travellers choose to upgrade their cover for added protection and peace of mind while travelling New Zealand.

Things to consider when choosing your cover option:

Many guests prefer the added confidence and peace of mind that comes with travelling under our highest cover option, allowing them to relax and enjoy their New Zealand adventure.

  • You may be driving a campervan for the first time, often on unfamiliar New Zealand roads and conditions.
  • Vehicle repair and third-party damage costs in New Zealand can be very high, even for smaller incidents.
  • Our upgraded cover options can significantly reduce or remove your excess and bond completely.
  • Higher cover options also include additional benefits such as windscreen and tyre cover.
  • Our vehicle cover protects the campervan itself. We also recommend guests arrange their own travel insurance for personal belongings and travel-related expenses.

*24/7 roadside assistance is included. Some callout costs are not covered and may be payable by the hirer, including user-related incidents such as lockouts, lost or damaged keys, flat batteries, incorrect fuelling, running out of fuel, tyre damage, bogged or stuck vehicles, accident recovery, towing beyond included limits, or similar non-mechanical issues.

Protection options apply to covered accidental damage only and are subject to the Rental Agreement, selected protection option, policy terms, exclusions and hirer obligations. If the Rental Agreement is breached, insurance cover or excess reduction may be void and the hirer may be responsible for all associated costs.

Windscreen cover under Premium Protection is subject to the windscreen excess and policy terms.

Security bonds, hirer liability amounts and protection options are contractual arrangements between the hirer and New Zealand Campervans and may differ from the insurer’s policy excess.*
