Here are quick answers about campervan hire in New Zealand, including payments, cancellation terms, pickup and drop-off, driver licences and what to prepare before you arrive. How do I pay?

For direct bookings, we send payment details after you accept your quote. A 25% deposit is due within 48 hours unless agreed otherwise in writing; your booking is confirmed once it is received and accepted. The remaining balance is due exactly 45 days before pickup. Your payment request shows the amount and calendar due date. You can pay by card using our secure payment link or by arranged bank transfer.

Can I pay by bank transfer?

Yes. Bank transfer is usually available for campervan hire payments. If you are booking from overseas, we can let you know the best payment option for your booking so the process is simple and clear.

Can I pay by cash?

No, we do not accept cash for campervan hire bookings. Please use the card payment link or arrange a bank transfer with us so both you and NZC have a clear payment record.

What is your cancellation policy?

For cancellation of a confirmed direct booking, the following fees apply:

61 days or more before pickup: 10%
60 to 31 days before pickup: 25%
30 to 15 days before pickup: 50%
14 to 7 days before pickup: 75%
6 days or less before pickup, on the pickup date, or non-appearance: 100%

Percentages apply to the total confirmed booking cost, excluding any refundable security bond. Please read the full Rental Terms and Conditions for changes and refunds. Nothing in these terms limits rights that cannot lawfully be excluded under New Zealand law.

Is there a minimum hire period?

Yes, a minimum hire period applies. This can vary depending on the season, availability and the type of campervan. Peak summer dates usually have a longer minimum hire than quieter travel periods.

When can I pick up and drop off my campervan?

Pick-up and drop-off times are arranged with your booking. We recommend allowing enough time for a proper campervan handover, especially if this is your first time hiring a campervan in New Zealand

What do I need to do before I arrive?

Please complete the check-in information we send you, read the relevant campervan guide, and review and sign your completed rental agreement before pickup. Paying for your booking and completing check-in are separate from signing the agreement. Bring every driver’s original valid licence, plus an accurate English translation or International Driving Permit if the licence is not in English; an IDP does not replace the original licence. Confirm your arrival plans and any hire requests with us. Customers arrange their own Christchurch transport and ferry bookings. Soft duffel bags are helpful where possible.
